MONGOLIA. Yura Tagma (of the Sharnuud clan), a 59-year-old shaman living in Ulan Ula in the southern Darhad Valley, a small town under the Horidal Saridag Mountains in northern Mongolia. She treats a variety of spiritual maladies caused by offenses against natural spirits, either by going into a trance or with natural herbs. Her clients are primarily local families and other Mongolians who travel from distant locations due to her reputation.
