Although the photographer suffered two crushed vertebrae, the team managed to successfully finish first-ever winter traverse of India's Great Himalaya Range from Ladakh to Kashmir.

All survived, but Wiltsie crushed two vertebrae and - not knowing the extent of his injuries - skied out under his own power.

This was the first-ever winter traverse of India's Great Himalaya Range from Ladakh to Kashmir. Not knowing that he had suffered two crushed vertebrae and a knee injury Wiltsie was able to ski two more days to the first civilization.
